Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?

Hello. I was wanted to buy a toner refill kit for my printer.

I was wondering if the reset chip that some kits include are Absolutely Necessary for the printer to function like new.

The reset chip costs an extra 12 bucks, so I don't really want to have to buy it, but if I have to, i guess I should.

I was also wondering if there is a limit to the number of times you can refill a toner cartridge.

Thanks!Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?
You do absolutely need the chip.

Generally speaking you will be lucky to refill a toner once. The green electrostatic roller wears out very quickly and you will see a decline in print quality rapidly.

It is not recommended to refill toners for a variety of reasons.

The first is of course the toner dust itself is very toxic stuff.

Secondly, the chip is difficult to install and get working properly.

Third you will be lucky to get one full life cycle out of a toner.

Fourth, there are mechanical parts in a toner that if they wear out and break down can cause irreparable damage to your printer.

If you are looking to cut cost look into professionally factory refurbished toners. They will have replaced the nylon gears, chips and electrostatic roller.Question about refilling toner- HP Laserjet P1006?
Don't worry about any thing, but there is a limit to refilling.
